COAST - VOLUME 1
A Photographic Exploration of Ireland’s COAST:
COAST is the result of over ten years spent walking, waiting, and returning to Ireland’s shoreline with my camera. It is a carefully produced large-format photography book that brings together images, stories, locations, and technical insight from across the island’s coast.
This book only exists because of the incredible support shown during its Kickstarter launch, where the project was fully funded in under 24 hours and continued beyond its original goal. That backing made it possible to print COAST properly, at the scale, quality, and finish it deserves.
From Campaign to Print
The Kickstarter campaign didn’t just fund the book , it proved there was a genuine appetite for a deeper, more immersive way of experiencing Ireland’s coastline. Because the campaign succeeded, COAST could move forward exactly as intended, without any compromises.
Every decision, from the square format to the paper choice and binding, was made to serve the images and the stories behind them. This is not a mass-market release. Its directly from me to you. It is a first and only print run, made possible entirely by those who backed it early.
I will have a small number of additional copies available, but once they are gone they are gone forever.
Mission Accomplished
This is my first printed book, and thanks to the Kickstarter campaign, it is now a finished, real project. Seeing COAST move from years of work on hard drives to an actual printed book is something I’m incredibly grateful for, and not something I take lightly. The fact that these images will live on shelves and tables in homes around the world is only possible because the campaign was successfully backed is mind blowing.
COAST exists because a community came together and made it happen. The Kickstarter reached its goal, the book is going to print, and everything you see here is the result of that collective effort. Pre-ordering now allows you to be part of the first print run and ensures the book reaches as many people as possible, exactly as it was intended to be experienced, in print, at scale, and with care.
The extended rewards and stretch goals were exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign and are no longer available. Those early backers played a crucial role in getting COAST off the ground, and every Kickstarter backer will be acknowledged by name in the book as a permanent thank you for making this project possible.
What You’ll Experience Inside COAST
COAST was never meant to be a book you flick through quickly. From the very beginning, I wanted it to slow you down. To give the images space, weight, and presence, in the same way these places demanded patience from me when I was standing there waiting for the light. It’s designed to invite you in, feel like an immersive experience and bring you back again for more.
full size images
All photographs are printed large, edge to edge, because that’s how I experienced them in the field. These locations don’t feel small when you’re there. The scale matters. I wanted you to be able to step into each frame, to notice the textures in the rock, the movement in the water, the way light wraps around the land rather than just lands on it.
every image has a story
Alongside each image, I’ve included the story behind it. Not just where it was taken, but why I stayed, why I returned, or why that specific moment mattered to me. Some of these images came easily. Many didn’t. They’re tied to early starts, long walks, wrong forecasts, missed chances, and the quiet satisfaction of things finally coming together. I felt it was important to share that context, because it’s as much a part of the photograph as the final frame.
let’s get technical
I’ve also included the technical details and conditions for each image. Not as a checklist, but as a record of the reality on the day the light, the weather, the decisions made in the moment. If you’re a photographer, it gives insight into how and why the image was made. If you’re not, it still adds another layer to understanding what it took to capture that scene.
Location(s)
Where possible, I’ve added location references so you can trace the journey around Ireland’s coastline yourself. These aren’t exact pins meant to encourage copy-and-paste photography, but guideposts. Invitations. They show the breadth of the journey and give you a sense of how varied, wild, and fragile these places are.
My aim with COAST is simple. When you sit down with it, I want it to feel like you’re there with me, standing on a headland in the wind, watching the tide change, waiting for the light to do something interesting. Not rushed. Not polished for effect. Just honest moments from a decade spent along the edge of Ireland.

Secure Your Copy
COAST is now in production. The successful Kickstarter campaign made the book possible, and pre-ordering here guarantees your place in the first retail release once printing is complete.
I didn’t want people to miss out on the experience of owning this book, especially those who discovered the project after the campaign ended. For that reason, a limited number of signed copies are being made available directly through my website. Once these are gone, they’re gone.
If you’ve followed my work over the years, stood in these places yourself, or simply want a lasting record of Ireland’s coastline, this book was made for you. It’s something to sit with, return to, and keep close. It also makes a thoughtful gift — a way of sharing the coast, the stories, and the journey with someone else.
Pre-ordering now means being part of the first release of COAST, a project that exists only because a community believed in it and helped bring it into the world.
